world, leading to travel, a career in Forest Management and a move to Newcastle
where he lives with his wife and five year old son.

Now a little older than the photo suggests, he now lives in

city, Karen set off on traveling in 1991 with a teaching degree in her backpack
and dreams of far flung adventures. After a 14 year love affair with London and
then a brief three year dalliance with Canberra, Karen and her little family
landed in Newcastle in 2009 knowing only her brother and his partner but took a
punt and made Tighes Hill home.

As one half of the Wacky Wombat Show (- no, not the wombat!), a member
of Hunter Writers’ Centre, Tighes Hill ukulele group, book group and writers
group (yes, it all happens in Tighes Hill!), Karen has been weaving stories and
songs ever since she was taken in by Newcastle’s charm.

As to the place that shaped her…..which one will it be?

Annabella

Rossini was born in 1960, in country NSW. Bella is a twin and was raised in her
traditional Baptist family home. Growing up, she believed her life was well
and truly planned out for her, and set out as a young adult to live the life
she thought was intended for her.

As she grew
older, Bella’s life took a number of turns that led her down a path she would
never have imagined as a young girl. She moved around a lot and worked
different jobs whilst raising three children as a single mother.

Bella currently
lives in Newcastle and works as a nomadic barista, raising funds for the turning teardrops into joy campaign in
Ghana, Africa through her coffee cart sales.

Bella is
passionate about all things human – from international and domestic human
rights issues to local community events. Bella is creative, colourful and a
well-known Novocastrian that is always up for listening and sharing stories
with everyone she meets.

Heath Wild: I am a searcher of meaning and sift through the...

Heath Wild: I am a searcher of meaning and sift through the experiences, words, music, art, and relationships that I encounter in my journey. Often I am
content to be held in the mystery and magic without desiring to fully
comprehend. I appreciate the flow, the spirit state, when myself or others are
in tune with their being. But what is that? All I know is that it is an honour
to behold.

My life
is a wandering, yet I am such a home body. I am my experience, which is rife
with duality.

I have
recently begun studying to be a transpersonal Art Therapist and am gaining
great insights into what it is to be. The sharing of story, sacred space, and
creativity are keys to connection. I am one concentration of energy resonating
amongst infinite vibration. Often I miss the moment due to dreaming of the past
or projecting the future.

Creativity
guides me and keeps me sane, occasionally taking form in music, words, and
vision.

I hope to
shape a better place through peace, love and compassion for those I work with,
teach, and share space with.

Come and here Annette Nathalia share about the place that shaped...

Come and here Annette Nathalia share about the place that shaped her at LIFEgig, April 4, at the Treehouse.

Annette grew up in Lugarno, Sydney; bushy suburbia on the Georges River, and then
later moved to X (wait for letter) before moving to Newcastle in 2004 with her
partner, Andrew. They and their two daughters, Astrid (8) and Nadia (6) now
live in suburbia again, Windale, between the lake and the beach. Annette has a
part time job as a Social Worker in a parenting centre and she occasionally
makes a bold move (like this one) because it matters.

Huw Rogers will be sharing about the place that shaped him at...

Huw Rogers will be sharing about the place that shaped him at the April 4 LIFEgig.

Huw’s passion is for creativity and creative thinking, and he has a
tendency to get pretty excited and inspired by quirky things and clever ideas.
His background is in visual storytelling: film, photography, art, writing and
illustrating. Art is everywhere if you have an open perspective, and he can get
pretty excited by that too.

He’s spent his life moving from place to place, and associates
confidence in himself with the appreciation of being visually creative, and the
personal ease and freedom he gains when traveling alone to new places; where
instincts, resourcefulness and independence are nourished.

He’s also adjusting to losing these things as he transitions into a life
of blindness; Adapting to the practicalities involved in vision-loss, and
learning to reform a different meaning and usefulness to himself.

April 4th - a letter to the place that shaped me

Registrations have just opened!!
What can the developing world can teach us about the future of energy?
